Now, these hot dogs, over 100,000 pounds of hot dogs are sold each year. Hundreds a day come out of this place…
Welcome everyone to Campus Eats. Doing things a little different. I’m the host of the College Tour, and it’s super cool. We’re filming at UMass Boston right now, which is in the Southie area of Boston, and they said the number one place to go eat is Sullivan, right here at Castle Island. Amazing history.
Independence Fort right here, one of the oldest forts in the country. Uh, super cool. This was started by Dan Sullivan in 1951. Dan’s still alive, but one of his sons is still running the joint. And the coolest part, before we even get to the hot dog, is more of the history. So these, they open right around early March.
You never know exactly which day it is, but when that day opens, it’s almost like spring has sprung in Boston. They decide when spring has hit Boston by opening the doors and starting to sell hot dogs. Everything is local, whether you’re getting some of the seafood inside there, the hamburgers, the hot dogs, uh, everything is locally sourced.
Now, these hot dogs, over 100,000 pounds of hot dogs are sold each year, hundreds a day come out of this place. So historical place in Southie Boston. You must come check it out. I think I got through all the history here, but let’s have a bite, huh?
That is an amazing hot dog. Nice natural casing. They toast the bun a little bit. You can see why they sell hundreds of thousands of pounds of hot dogs. All right, we’ll see you next time. Cheers, everyone.
