Let’s welcome Aaron, a sophomore pursuing double majors in Forensics Science and Spanish at Fairmont State University. Aaron has a passion for healthcare and hopes to care for others in the future with special guidance from his professors. Aaron, tell us more about how Fairmont State’s mentors have helped you on your journey to become a healthcare professional. Take it away.

– Thanks, Alex. Hey, everyone. As a high school senior, I knew I wanted to go into Medicine and Fairmont State University has given me the opportunities, resources, and mentorship to make that dream feel possible every single day. When I first told people I was pursuing a pre-med track at Fairmont State, many of them were surprised. They didn’t realize the kind of academic support and flexibility available here, but what I found is that the smaller class sizes and close faculty mentorship have been a huge advantage for me academically. One of my professors in chemistry not only helped me understand some of the tougher material, but also walked me through how to approach problems with confidence even when I felt completely stuck. She provided me with studying skills and techniques that have remained valuable to me even in my more advanced classes. There are also so many hands-on opportunities here at Fairmont State, like working in the lab and participating in research projects. Those experiences remind me that I’m not just memorizing material. I’m learning how to think and act like a future healthcare provider. What really makes Fairmont State stand out is the faculty’s dedication to each student. Professors know you personally, push you academically, and supports you through challenges. Their mentorship and engaging classes creates an environment where you’re consistently learning, building connections, and growing to shape both your education and your character. The hands-on experiences and faculty mentorship from my professors make me feel prepared for the next steps in my future career in medicine.
