Penfield Hall (with Grace Luchka)

Dorm Tour #0 from Rhode Island College

One of the best parts about Penfield is that you can get a four-bedroom style apartment. So everybody has their own separate space to kind of come and relax at the end of the night…

Welcome to dorm tours. My name is Grace Lechga. I’m a junior RA and volleyball player here at Rhode Island College. Welcome into Penfield Hall. This is a four bedroom, one bath apartment style complex. It is probably one of the most desired halls here on campus. This is the common area living room with the couch that was provided by our lovely college, where we all spend our time here every single night, either playing the Wii, playing games, or painting pumpkins, as you can see, and the festivities for Halloween.

This room is the most used room in the college experience. This lovely TV, it came with our TV stand. Everything else in here that we did buy, but probably everybody has a little piece of their own touch in this room. A couch for when friends wanna sleep over. It’s a foldable one, so it’s nice and easy. We have some fake plants because, you know, it’s hard keeping plants alive in college, but we’re trying.
So next, we’re gonna bring you to the kitchen area. And this is a lovely area because you have many, many spaces for your friends to sit, do homework, study together. Comes with a sink and definitely plenty of cabinet spaces for everybody to put in cups, plates, dishes, food, snacks. This was given to us by the college and so was it this lovely big fridge, which is an essential, especially in college.
This is the best part of our room too. We all have painted something here. We call ourselves the little, like, painting nights. We have painting nights in Penfield where we all paint a picture. I can say I’ve done this one, this one, and my friend Jake did the chickens, and we love the chickens. We call them the Yickens.
I don’t know why, but we do. And one other thing before we head to the bedrooms, I just wanted to point out our game section. We love playing games in college. It’s always a big thing, especially having our own spaces. We love to come together. Jenga, game nights, UNO Flip. It can get heated, but we have fun.
All right. Moving on to the bathroom and shower area. The best thing about this is that the shower and the bathrooms are separate and the sinks are outside of both. So if someone’s using the bathroom, you can still use the sink. If somebody’s in the shower, you can still use the bathroom or the sink. This is our lovely perfume collection.
We have been collecting since summer, so it’s gotten pretty big since then. Um, me and my friend Jay are probably the biggest con- like biggest contributors to the perfume collection. Everybody smells great in this dorm, if you couldn’t tell. So let’s move on to the shower area. It is just a one shower. You have a bunch of towel racks.
We have our own little shower rack for any extra soaps, hairbrushes, any other essentials that we need in this room. But other than that, it’s a very nice open space where you can get changed and just be with yourself. All right. Nothing too special, but we do have a storage area. This place is full of storage areas in this room.
And this is our bathroom back here. It’s separate from everything else. So this is the bedroom. One of the best parts about Penfield is that you can get a four bedroom style apartment so everybody has their own separate space to kind of come and relax at the end of the night. This is my lovely bed which you can rise and lower if needed.
I have it on the lowest setting because we have two lovely storage bins under my bed given to us by the college, a desk given to us by the college as well, and a lovely closet space as well behind us over there. Um, something that I really love about my room is the decor, the pictures on the wall, anything that’s very personable to me.
I also love the fact that I have such an open window so that I can see what I wanna see what’s going on outside. I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little nosy, so that’s probably one of my big things. Um, I have my own dresser here that I brought. I love it very, very much. Just helps me store some extra clothes that I may or may not need.
Um, I have my Honeywell fan, a mirror. The best thing as well is Rhode Island College has this own little, you know, heating and cooling system for your own personal room. So anything that I want will come out of those vents. The best thing that I got, and I think that any freshman should get in their dorm, is this rollable TV stand.
So I can move my TV any which way that I want. I can mount it on here. I have a little storage space underneath it. I personally didn’t know about it until this year. One of my lovely friends, Isaiah, had it in his room, and I thought it was the best thing I had ever seen. It was so easy. He just moved his TV into the living room, and we all got to watch something, and I was like, “Where did you get that?”
He got it on Amazon, and he helped me mount it, and ever since then, if I’m doing, like, my makeup or homework and wanna watch TV, I just tilt it this way. If I’m going to bed, I tilt it this way, or I can just, like, tuck it back into the corner, and it’s completely out of my way. So definitely invest into one of those.
Now, that is pretty much it for the college tour room in Penfield Hall at Rhode Island College. And if you do find yourself in this area, downstairs we do have lovely common areas with pool, uh, ping pong, and some basketball. So bye everyone. Have a good day.
