Scholarships, Research, and Grants with Angela Baldasare

Hi, everyone. At National University, it’s my job to help students, faculty, and staff use research in big and small ways to make a positive impact, both here at NU and in the world around us. I’ve been in the business of research my entire career, and today in my current position, I live and breathe student success.

And guess what? Research and student success go hand-in-hand. At every level, from undergraduate to graduate work, research plays an important role in education. It’s active, engaged learning, synthesizing past knowledge, and then exploring, testing, and creating new knowledge, answering new questions. Which brings me to the Cause Research Institute, or CRI, NU’s hub for supporting and expanding research.

We offer research training, help nurture new research ideas, support faculty in finding funding, and we connect students and faculty members not only with one another, but also with community-based projects and partners. One great example of the support we offer is our annual seed grant program. Every year, we give money to faculty who are launching new research ideas.

This year, we funded six student-centered research labs that are led by faculty and staffed by student researchers. The labs are all focused on different research topics, from AI in law enforcement, educator well-being, to mindfulness, and even conducting effective research online. We can’t wait to see how these labs take off, hear about the experience that our students gain, and help these projects grow and mature into future successes.

Eventually, we want to help them get published and secure more funding for continued research. So thanks for listening, and wings up.
