We’ve Got Spirit with Sanai
Segment #8 from Florida A&M University
Transcript
Hey, y’all. When I chose to attend the number one public HBCU in the nation, I was hesitant about moving eight hours away to start a new life with no friends. But I was so captivated by the community on the hill that I came simply on faith. Florida A&M University is a great place for creative and analytical types alike.
As a boss level iPad kid in the family, I’ve had a passion for technology, so I chose to study information technology, where I’m learning about cybersecurity, an essential field in this day and age. I also love the arts. FAMU offers several creative clubs and organizations. I’m involved in Venomous Entertainment, where I can express my musicality, Her University, which fosters sisterhood, and the Student National Alumni Association, where I connect with alumni to offer mentorship and support.
Athletics is another big part of FAMU culture. We’re home to Southwestern Atlantic Conference champions in women’s track and field, women’s volleyball, women’s tennis, and men’s golf. As a member of the FAMU videography team, I get a behind-the-scenes look of the FAMU Rattler football production. There’s nothing like game day at Bragg Memorial Stadium, where the crowd’s cheering our Rattlers on to victory.
I’m also a member of the Venom Pom Squad, which dances during basketball season. Our routines hype up the crowd to create that winning atmosphere. If you’re looking for a college where your inner nerd and social butterfly personalities can coexist, look no further than FAMU. I cannot imagine what life would have looked like if I never joined the FAMU league.
Here, everyone with ambition and perseverance succeeds. Don’t ever be afraid to do what looks impossible. At FAMU, we brag different. Can I get two claps and a strike? Go Rattlers!
