Transcript

Let’s meet Michael, Long Island University’s Chief of Staff and Vice President for Student Affairs. He has witnessed firsthand the university’s transformation and growth and is uniquely equipped to share how LIU is accelerating the exceptional. Take it away, Michael.

– Thanks, Alex. I’m here in the Roosevelt School of International Relations and Diplomacy, one of the many exceptional parts of Long Island University. The school features the Museum of Democracy and the White House experience where students engage in strategy and decision making. Right here in LIU’s very own Oval Office. It’s also home to the society of presidential descendants with two residential campuses, one in downtown Brooklyn and one on Long Island’s Gold Coast. Our students experience the best of both worlds. We offer 200 majors in competitive fields and with 38 division one teams, LIU’s Shark Nation is the largest collegiate athletic community in the country. LIU is recognized as a college of distinction and a best national University, ranking in the top 7% for research nationwide. Our faculty lead groundbreaking initiatives including the Nation’s first digital engineering program. It’s no surprise we’re called the University of the Future. The energy at LIU is palpable thanks to our unique offerings. Our College of Veterinary Medicine is only one of four in the northeast, and our College of Pharmacy is among the oldest in New York. We’re home to one of the first honors colleges, the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts and Live Nation’s renovated Paramount Theater. At LIU our commitment to student success is central to our culture. Each student has a success coach to guide their academic journey and prepare for careers. We are proud 95% of our graduates are employed or pursuing further education, often with job offers before graduation. Joining our network of 285,000 alumni, including Ray Dalio, founder of the world’s largest hedge fund, and Al Kahn, the marketing entrepreneur behind brands like Nintendo and Pokemon. We believe in making education affordable. LIU awards over 100 million in scholarships each year, and caps tuition increases at just 2% annually, far below the national average. Long Island University is truly exceptional and we believe that remarkable students belong at an exceptional university. Back to you, Alex.

– Michael. Wow. Thank you so much for that. It is clear that LIU is accelerating the exceptional. Thank you so much for sharing, Michael. We really appreciate that.
