Innovative Delivery with James Billings
Segment #3 from National University
Transcript
Hello from sunny California. I’m excited to share some of the innovative work happening here at National University. Currently, I’m the Vice Provost, but I’ve been part of the NU community for over 20 years, and during that time, I’ve seen just how transformative education can be when it’s been designed with students’ real lives in mind.
Recently, we celebrated 55 years of innovation in education. As technology and learning continues to evolve, we remain committed to finding creative ways to help students succeed. For example, our nursing program incorporates virtual reality simulations that allow students to practice clinical decision-making, patient communication, and ethical reasoning in realistic healthcare scenarios.
Our doctorate of nurse anesthesia program uses advanced virtual and augmented reality technology to create three-dimensional visualization tools, allowing students to explore complex anatomy and practice procedures in safe environment. Our electrical and computer engineering programs provide students with at-home lab kits so they can participate in hands-on virtual electronic labs from anywhere.
Students can also explore 3D printing and innovation at our Maker Lab. For students in Southern California, hybrid bio lab courses combine hands-on work at local campuses with flexible online learning. Our students gain real-world skills in supervised field experience as student teachers, participating in hospital nursing rounds, and supporting clients in local community mental health clinics.
National University students contribute more than 300,000 hours of service each year to children, family, and communities across the country as part of their training. All of this is supported through our Whole Human Education model, which guides what we teach, how we teach, and how we support our students.
At National University, we believe education should empower people to achieve their goals and create opportunities for themselves, their families, and their communities. We invite you to explore all that National University has to offer, and we look forward to supporting you in achieving your next academic, professional, and life goals.
Hope to see you soon.
