Local & Global Engagement

Segment #9 from University of Wisconsin-River Falls

Transcript

College is an adventure, that is for sure. Now throw in the opportunity to travel abroad to study for a semester or two. UW River Falls offers a wide variety of international education programs, which Isaac from Brillion, Wisconsin, was drawn to without hesitation. Take it away, Isaac.

– Howdy everybody. My college search journey was all about academics and finding a sense of community. As soon as I stepped foot onto UWRF’s campus, I was greeted with smiling faces telling me that this was going to be my future home. UWRF’s campus is full of resources and opportunities for you to explore. One of those resources is our Office of International Education. UWRF prides itself in being one of the top UW schools to send its students on study abroad experiences. I was one of those students where I was able to spend five weeks in Europe studying my favorite subject of psychology. My summer experience allowed me to have unique learning experiences on the streets of London, in the museum in Paris, or even in a garden in Berlin. Planning for this experience sounds like it would be stressful, but many of UWRF’s resources work together to make this process simple. For example, our Financial Aid Office set up an individual meeting with me to break down the finance part of the program. This journey was something I will never forget and gave me life skills that I can never learn inside a classroom. River Falls understands this, and this is why we invest in value in sending students on these study abroad experiences. When I first started college, I had no idea I was going to be able to travel the world while still continuing my studies. Studying abroad is way more than just a vacation. I now know how to adapt and thrive in different cultures and have a much deeper understanding for the global perspective. Well, that’s my story. Now back to you, Alex.

– Thank you, Isaac. UWRF is a leader in international education with signature programs like the International Traveling Classroom where students study with faculty while traveling through Europe. Experience Scotland offers the comfort of a cohort learning community, and for the more adventurous, try a directed independent study program, Semester Abroad Europe. These are just a few of the great international opportunities right here on campus. Thanks again.
