Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine with Dr. Jacob Cukierski

Segment #8 from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine

Transcript

Hello everyone and welcome to LECOM. I’m the director of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine here at the Erie campus. What makes this role especially meaningful to me is that I was once sitting where many of our students begin, interviewing here at LECOM, an institution that I expected both challenge me, support me, and make me the best physician possible.

At LECOM, we teach the most comprehensive approach to medicine possible. We train our students to take care of people, to partner with them, and emphasize their health and wellbeing, not just a series of medical problems. In addition to providing one of the top medical school curriculums in the country, we have an emphasis on compassionate patient-centered care with hands-on clinical skills development.

One of the greatest strengths of our program is our faculty. Even as the nation’s largest medical school, our students benefit from individualized instruction and mentorship from our excellent team of educators. Our osteopathic manipulative medicine faculty include experienced clinicians, researchers, textbook authors, and nationally recognized leaders in the field.

They all are dedicated to helping students master both the science and art of medicine. Also unique is the continuity of education that our students receive. Many of the physicians who teach in our labs continue mentoring students during their clinical rotations, creating a learning environment that remains supportive from the classroom all the way into patient care settings.

At LECOM, we are committed to training physicians that combine clinical excellence with empathy, professionalism, and service. It’s an honor to be a part of that mission and help develop the next generation of osteopathic physicians.
