Hello, everybody. I chose National University at a turning point in my life. I wanted to continue my education, but a traditional class schedule was unrealistic. When I discovered National University’s four and eight-week courses, it made all the difference. But I needed to keep my job, attend classes in the evening, and most importantly, spend time with my young daughter, Isabella.

An NU counselor helped me create a student education plan so I can complete the prerequisites needed to apply to the Bachelor’s of Science Registered Nurse program. After I was accepted into the program, I applied to the NU Scholar Program and received a full ride scholarship, which covered my classes and books for my BSN-RN program.

Later, I was awarded a second full ride scholarship, and in 2023, I graduated as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. One of the most important parts of my experience was learning from professors who were actively working in the field I hoped to enter. During my BSN clinical rotation, my preceptor was a practicing nurse who balanced a full-time career while teaching at NU and shared real-world experiences that helped bridge the gap between theory and practice.

In the PMH program, one of my professors ran her own practice and served as a powerful example of what’s possible in this field. Learning from mental health professionals that were serving their community made the experience more meaningful to me. Looking back, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

NU provided me the resources, mentorship, and hands-on learning that I needed to succeed. Just as important was the encouragement from cohort, who supported me and one another every step of the way. Even after graduating, National University continues to support me by allowing me to share my story and the impact this journey has made in my life.
