Career Readiness with Falonne
Segment #7 from Florida A&M University
Transcript
Greetings, everyone. I’m currently a fourth-year business administration scholar from Orlando, Florida, but my journey here actually began in another major. Once I discovered my passion for business, I knew I needed to find a program that would prepare me for today’s competitive global market, which led me to FAMU’s School of Business and Industry.
Being a business student has completely transformed how I approach my future. The program is very intentional about career readiness, especially through experiences like Forum. More than 1,200 students attend this required course to hear directly from executives at top firms, receive insight into various career paths, and gain access to opportunities that help us build our networks early.
As one of the student leaders for Forum, I track data analytics and help support the execution of these experiences, while also growing professionally myself. With the leadership skills I’m obtaining at FAMU, I’ve been able to connect with companies like Goldman Sachs. By stepping into these spaces boldly and believing in myself, I secured an internship, which led to a full-time job offer with the firm.
What makes FAMU special is that while it prepares you for the high-level careers, it never takes away from the culture. Being here feels like home. I’ve literally met some of my lifelong friends turned family here. You’re constantly supported, encouraged, and poured into, which builds a level of self-assurance that you will carry with you wherever you go.
FAMU did not just prepare me for a career, it helped me step into who I am becoming. As I look ahead to my role at Goldman Sachs, I’m ready to walk in prepared, confident, and ready to make an impact. That’s my story. Thanks for watching.
