A really cool, a big double bed, kind of just for myself to be able to kind of sleep up there. And it allows me to have kind of my own space to do whatever I want.
Hi, I’m Tanner and I’m a junior at Hanover College. Today I’m going to be showing my room inside of the Sigma Chi fraternity.
So first up, this is our lobby. This is where brothers can kind of come and hang out. We have a big TV so people can come over, guests can come over, and we can have and host events in here, just kind of a little bit of socializing and have just a little bit of fun as a brotherhood. We also have home to a lot of our dog toys for our dog Hank, so hopefully he’ll make an appearance too.
Awesome, here we are. This is my room. I currently have a double, but I’m using it as a single, because of the amount of brothers that we have in our house, it allows me to have a really cool, a big double bed, kind of just for myself to be able to kind of sleep up there. And it allows me to have kind of my own space to do whatever I want. I am currently the President of the fraternity, so it allows me to have kind of a space to be able to do any kind of like office work that we need.
So over here I have like my computer and all that stuff in my room, all my different books and stuff for all of my classes, because as a Classics major, I have a lot of different kind of books. I also have this really cool bulletin board that allows me to put pictures. This is, like, all the campus Emergency Services policies so that if anybody ever needs them, they’re kind of posted right here and they can see them, as well as kind of like this kind of like leadership guide thing that I have, from like some of the summer program.
I’m really big into tea, so over here on top of my fridge, I have my tea kettle, an electric tea kettle for the room, as well as kind of all the different teas that I have. These ones are all kind of based off of Lord of the Rings, so those are pretty cool.
Going further into my room, a really nice set up for me to be able to have a TV, so that brothers can kind of come in here and watch movies, as well as just kind of hang out, have a chair.
I have a futon, for a lot of different seating, and within kind of Hanover College, within all of the different kind of different housing options, you are able to bring different things to kind of make the space your own. So obviously, I have kind of moved everything around and I’ve added plants and I’ve added kind of different seating things and different, like, patterns of tapestries and such, to allow my space to be my space, so that whenever I’m in here and I’m studying, I can be kind of locked in and zoned in, in a space that is comfortable for me.
