A Transfer Journey Into a Nursing Career with Nolee
Segment #9 from Indiana State University
Transcript
Hey everyone. Indiana State University has helped me grow academically, professionally, and personally. But my college journey didn’t start at a four-year university. I began at a community college because I played basketball after high school. I knew I’d transfer to a university after two years, and picking Indiana State is one of the best decisions I’ve made.
It opened the door to opportunities that are shaping my future in nursing. Indiana State made the transfer process easy. I worked with an advisor who mapped out classes I should take in community college so my credits transferred seamlessly once I earned my associate degree. They also guided me through the application timeline for nursing so I could transition directly into the program once I’d arrived.
As a Sycamore, I felt challenged and supported by our nursing faculty and program. The coursework pushes us to think critically and develop strong clinical judgment, and our professors genuinely want us to succeed. One valuable opportunity I’ve had is a local hospital apprenticeship the university connected me with.
I’ve shadowed different departments and gained hands-on exposure to patient care. It has helped me build confidence in my skills and develop clinical thinking as I prepare to become a nurse. Indiana State’s nursing program prepares us for the future. Our December 2025 graduates achieved a 90% pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses, which reflects our program’s strength and our faculty’s dedication.
Through clinical experiences and real-world opportunities, we gain the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed as nurses. After graduation, I plan to work as a PCU nurse at our local hospital. I’m a proud Sycamore and thankful for a university that invests in students and prepares them to make a difference.
That’s all from me. Thanks for watching. Take care.
