Athletic Spirit Runs Deep

Segment #7 from Quinnipiac University

Transcript

Look who we have here? Quinnipiac’s Boomer the Bobcat is here to help introduce Zach, a graduate student working on his MBA, and captain of Quinnipiac’s perennially Top-10-ranked hockey team. Let’s head over to the M&T Bank Arena, home to QU’s men’s and women’s basketball and ice hockey teams. Zach will share how the athletic and school spirit runs deep across Bobcat Nation. Drop the puck Zach!

Thanks Alex! Hey everyone whats going on! When I was young, my dad put skates on my feet before I ever tried shoes. I always knew I wanted to play college hockey at one of the top programs in the NCAA. Quinnipiac University has provided me with that great opportunity while meeting some incredible people along the way. From the moment I first stepped foot on campus I could feel the passion for our sports teams. On the quad, in the classroom, or at a game it is hard to escape the sea of navy and gold. The sounds of games and events surround our campus. I love going to watch one of our 21 division one sports teams compete at our beautiful athletic facilities. No game better showcases Quinnipiac’s athletic spirit than our men’s ice hockey game against our rival, Yale. I will never take for granted the feeling of stepping onto the ice and hearing the roar of the crowd as they overwhelm our opponents in a sea of gold. Our student athletes excel in the classroom just as much as on the playing field. All 21 of our varsity programs consistently have 3.0 GPA or higher and we’re consistently represented on our conferences’ All-Academic teams. Quinnipiac University has provided me everything I dreamed of since my dad first put me in that pair of skates. I could not have asked for a better college experience as a student athlete. Back to you Alex, and Go Bobcats!

Right on Zach! It’s awesome to know that Quinnipiac’s student-athletes don’t just excel on the playing field – or in your case, on the ice – but also in the classroom. Good luck this season and hopefully you guys make it back to the NCAA Frozen Four once again. Great job!
