Transcript

Okay, let’s hear from Braydon, a junior from Murrieta, California, who’s majoring in computer science and engineering with a minor in management analytics and decision-making. He’s gonna share how UC Merced became his home away from home. The University of California, Merced provides more than professional skills. It’s a place of connections and cherished memories. You’re up, Braydon.

– Thanks, Alex. What’s up, everybody? Before I attended UC Merced, I decided to come check out the campus and see what it was like. Immediately when I came to campus, I felt welcome, not just by the staff, but by the students as well. This campus really showed me what home away from home is like. Along with my classes, the clubs and organizations that I’ve been involved with out on campus have made a huge impact on my personal life. When you’re part of a club or organization at UC Merced, you get to meet so many people who are involved and create lifelong friendships. My fraternity, as well as my job as an RA on campus, make me feel like I belong, like I’m a part of something that’s bigger than me. Because of my involvement on campus, I’m more motivated and I feel like I have a mission. My UC Merced journey has been so much more than attending classes and hitting the books. It’s been about discovering a profound sense of belonging on this campus. While academics are undoubtedly essential, the organizations that I’ve had the privilege of joining in my time at this school have added such a rich layer to my college experience. Because of my involvement, I’m not only able to be a member of something but I’m thankful that I have the ability to move forward in my organizations. I had the honor of being the president of my chapter of Sigma Chi, where I’m learning invaluable leadership that I can take with me for the rest of my life. The experience has really created a strong sense of community for me that I feel comfortable interacting with. My experience at the University of California, Merced has provided so much more than just professional skills. I’m making amazing connections and memories that I will always cherish. That’s all for me. Back to you, Alex.

Awesome, Braydon! UC Merced has a unique ability to foster a sense of home for its students. The bonds and friendships formed here are a testament to the inclusive nature and sense of belonging. UC Merced truly stands as a place where lasting connections are formed. Well done, Braydon.
