Transcript
Let’s meet Matthew, a junior studying finance. He will share more about the School of Business, an AACSB accredited program that recognizes only 5% of business schools worldwide. As a best business school in the nation for 17 consecutive years, Matthew will discuss the incredible opportunities available to connect with industry leaders and secure internships and jobs at prestigious companies. Matthew, it’s all yours.
– Thanks, Alex. Hey, everyone. At Long Island University School of Business, I’m laying the foundation for my future career. I’m learning from faculty experts using cutting edge technology on the trading floor, tapping into LIU’s expansive alumni network in finance and participating in experiential learning opportunities only available at LIU, as a leader in the investment fund, one of the largest student run businesses. I’m applying what I’m learning in the classroom every day. I’m a Bloomberg certified senior partner within the fund where I analyze the New York Stock Exchange in real time and trade with designed LIU endowment funds. I’m so grateful that I get to engage with Wall Street alumni and visit Fortune 500 companies to learn invaluable lessons of discipline and patience along with the importance of risk management in this field. Having alumni Ray Dalio, the world’s largest hedge fund founder visit our campus was one of the highlights of my LIU experience. Being a finance major, I’ve had the opportunity to be mentored by our amazing faculty and tap into our incredible alumni network. I’ve gained memorable experiences like bringing the NASDAQ closing bell and participating in the CEO speaker series. As a sophomore, I interned with the leading private equity firm and this year I’m aiming to leverage my experience to lend internships with the most prestigious Fortune 500 companies and big four accounting firms in New York City like Google, Morgan Stanley, PWC, and Deloitte. So whether it’s trading with the investment fund, consulting clients from around the world through LIU IQ, our student led consulting firm or managing a student run business, LIU provides countless opportunities for future business leaders like me to fulfill our dreams. So that’s my story. Back to you, Alex.
– That was impressive, Matthew. Getting the chance to learn from seasoned business experts and jump into the Student run investment fund is such a great opportunity. You’ll be running your own investment firm before long. Keep up the great work, Matthew, and thanks again.
