Take it away.

– Thanks, Alex. Hi, everybody. Ever since I was a little girl in Puerto Rico, I always knew that I wanted to study in the States, to expand my horizons and meet new people. I found that opportunity at Long Island University, Brooklyn campus. I chose LIU for its fantastic location right in downtown Brooklyn, just a quick sober ride or a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan. Whether I’m exploring local museums, relaxing in Fort Green Park, trying new foods at DeKalb Market or cheering on the sharks at the Barclay Center, there’s an energy around our campus that’s unique to New York City. I love how this campus makes me feel and I enjoy all it has to offer from its beautiful courtyards like the Connelly Lawn to its modern facilities. Like the Rock Nation Studios, our gated campus community thrives in the unparalleled energy of New York City, as a division one volleyball player getting involved was important for me. I made lifelong friendships and connected with amazing faculty, especially in the psychology program, which hold a special place in my heart. There’s so many fun traditions at the Brooklyn campus, like Midnight Madness where we give away over 10 thousand in prizes. Plus, we get to watch incredible performances at the LIU Historic Brooklyn Paramount Theater. The shows are free for students and we even get to meet celebrities. What could be better? When I started college, I never imagined I have so many opportunities to engage and build a strong community. I’m truly grateful for my time at Long Island University and I can’t wait to walk across the commencement stage in just a few months. Thanks to my experience here, I feel ready for the world opportunities waiting for me, once the shark, always the shark. This is my story and we’re back to you. Alex.

– Alasha, thank you for sharing your incredible story. It’s so evident that you’ve embraced the vibrant energy of the Brooklyn campus and are making the most of everything available to you at LIU. We really appreciate you sharing Alasha, that was fantastic.
