Finding Balance in Distance Education with Alexis

Segment #13 from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine

Transcript

Greetings, everyone. Ever since I was young, I’ve loved science and healthcare, but I also knew that I wanted a program that would allow me to stay connected with my family while challenging me to grow professionally. That balance is exactly what I found at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. My passion for pharmacy really developed while working in a community pharmacy and seeing the impact that pharmacists can make on patients every day.

LECOM’s distance education program stood out to me because it offered flexibility without sacrificing the quality of the education. As one of the longest standing DE pharmacy programs in the country, the program is incredibly organized and supportive. My schedule includes exams on Mondays and classes Tuesday through Thursday, which allows me to structure my time efficiently while maintaining balance in my personal life.

The flexibility of the program has also allowed me to stay involved outside of the classroom. I’ve been able to participate in leadership opportunities, attend national pharmacy conferences, and stay involved in organizations across the country without interrupting my education. At the same time, LECOM’s faculty and mentors continuously support and challenge me through a rigorous curriculum that prepares me for the profession.

LECOM has given me the confidence to pursue leadership, advocate for mental health within pharmacy, and grow both personally and professionally. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities and the support system that I found here.

Well, gotta go. Hope to see you around campus.
