Innovation, Technology, and Service with Carter
Segment #15 from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
Transcript
Hi, everybody. I’m originally from Bradenton, Florida, so being able to attend dental school at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in my own backyard has made this journey incredibly meaningful. I’ve always wanted a career in healthcare where I could truly make an impact on people’s lives. One of my favorite things about LECOM is how early we begin connecting classroom learning to the clinic.
From the start, we’re encouraged to focus on the patient experience. The sim lab has played a huge role in that growth for me. We use technology to practice procedures before ever treating patients, which helped me build confidence and truly feel prepared for the clinic. By the time I was working with patients, I could focus less on the procedure itself and more on making people feel comfortable and cared for.
LECOM also places a huge emphasis on community service and outreach. Whether we’re volunteering at local events or treating patients, we’re always reminded that dentistry is about much more than teeth. It’s about serving people and changing lives. LECOM has helped shape me not only as a future dentist, but also as a leader.
My goal is to become a pediatric dentist here in Florida and to continue giving back to the community that has supported me throughout this entire journey. Well, that’s my story.
