It’s time to hear from Jaime, a senior from Cromwell, Connecticut, who’s majoring in computer science. Jaime is gonna share with us how the resources and support she found in Eastern’s Career Services helped her land an internship and prepared her for a career in computer technology. Jaime, tell us your story.

– Thanks for the introduction, Alex. Growing up, I always knew I loved technology, so when it came to picking a college major, I went with computer science, and it’s been a great experience here at Eastern. Our Career Center is a game-changer. They offer tailored support to ensure every student is career-ready by the time they graduate. Whether it’s perfecting your resume, getting professional headshot pictures, or providing guidance on career paths, the center is committed to helping students succeed. Eastern connects students to more than 800 internships each year thanks to events like networking nights and career fairs. These opportunities allow us to meet potential employers, explore different industries, and secure valuable internships. The support we receive ensures we’re well prepared for life beyond graduation. Attending a career fair was key to securing my internship, where I gained invaluable corporate experience. As a software development intern, I developed my technical skills and gained a deeper understanding of the industry. This experience was a pivotal step in preparing me for my career. When it comes to academic resources, Eastern has you covered. Nearly every department offers student tutors who are ready to help you excel in your courses. Our Academic Success Center is a hub for support to guide you through the most challenging assignments. Eastern isn’t just a place to earn a degree, it’s a community that prepares you for a successful career and nurtures the spirit of service. I’m so proud to be a part of this incredible institution, and I’m very excited to see where it’ll take me next. That’s my story. Back to you, Alex.

– Jaime, thank you for sharing the many ways that Eastern helped you and other students get ready for the workplace. You have an amazing career ahead of you, and it sounds like you’re absolutely prepared to knock it out of the park with the preparation you have received. Thanks again.
