The Accelerated Degree Difference

Segment #3 from Quinnipiac University

Transcript

Quinnipiac University is known for its foundational strengths of arts, sciences and humanities that are combined with market-guided professional programs. They also understand that students want to graduate into professions that make an impact. Let me introduce Anya, a third year 3 plus 1 student double majoring in journalism and political science. She’ll share how Quinnipiac is a leader in accelerated degrees and advanced learning.

Thanks for that awesome intro, Alex. Hey friends! As long as I can remember, I was always into performing. In high school, I got involved with local government and journalism, writing articles for a digital newspaper and serving on my town council. When it came time for college, I was stuck between continuing with the arts or pursuing my growing passion for political communication. I soon realized being a journalist or politician was, in its own way, sort of like performing. I knew Quinnipiac University’s School of Communications was the best place to be if I wanted hands-on experience and post-grad success. I was invited to join Quinnipiac’s 3+1 Accelerated Dual Degree program to earn my undergraduate degree in three years and master’s in one. Completing multiple degrees in four years would put me steps ahead of my peers, and help me save money. In my first two years at Quinnipiac – I’ve done everything from podcasting to television, print and more. I spent my spring semester interning for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as part of the QU in DC program. This past summer, I worked in production for Connecticut Public Radio. Being in the accelerated program gave me the education and necessary skills to successfully complete two internships before starting my third year of school. Quinnipiac is leading the charge for accelerated degree programs across the United States. By supporting motivated students like me hoping to enter the workforce sooner, Quinnipiac gives its students a big advantage, helping them stand out to potential employers. As a student at Quinnipiac, I’ve been given every opportunity to customize my college experience. Double majoring in an accelerated program… finding my place and friends in student organizations…completing a study away…and receiving a well-rounded education- I’m so glad I chose to be a bobcat! Now enough about me, back to you Alex!

Whoa Anya, Quinnipiac really does provide you the opportunities in and out of the classroom that provide the technical and soft skills employers are looking for! You’ve done so much in your three years and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.  Thanks Anya!
