Connecting Community and Care with Krisyon
Segment #5 from Indiana State University
Transcript
Hi, everyone. When I started visiting colleges, I knew I wanted a place where I can be part of a community, get involved, and keep growing. That’s exactly what I found at Indiana State University. When I first toured campus, the biggest thing that stood out to me was how diverse it was and how students from different backgrounds were genuinely connecting with one another.
That really mattered to me because I wanted to be somewhere I felt I belonged. Once I got here, I was able to grow and be a part of this community while studying kinesiology and preparing for my master’s in athletic training here at Indiana State. A big part of that has been gaining hands-on experience in biomechanics, injury prevention, and human performance.
I’ve also had the opportunity to intern with the Sycamore men’s basketball team, which has shown me how what I’m learning actually translates into working with athletes and helping them perform at their best. Outside the classroom, I’ve been involved with Hall Council all three years. I was vice president my freshman year, and I’ve been the president of my residence hall for the past two.
I also work at the Residential Life desk, so I get to connect with students every day. I’m also part of Honors College, serve on the Honors Council, and sit on the Residential Life IT advisory board, where I can help make sure student voices are heard. Indiana State isn’t just preparing me for my career.
It’s given me confidence, community, and purpose, and I am proud to call myself a Sycamore.
