Early Acceptance Program with Thatcher
Segment #3 from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
Transcript
Greetings. Growing up just outside Erie, Pennsylvania, I saw firsthand the impact a rural family physician can have upon a community. As the son of a LECOM alumna, physician, and instructor, I also grew up with the support of the LECOM family. So when it came time to choose my own path in healthcare, the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine felt like the natural fit.
One of my earliest experiences with the college came through the Early Acceptance Program, or EAP. During high school, I applied through one of LECOM’s affiliate undergraduate institutions and was granted provisional acceptance to the college. The program gave me a clear pathway towards medical school while allowing me to focus on my undergraduate education without the stress of the traditional application cycle.
What stood out to me most was just how supportive the transition process was. Through mentorship opportunities, campus events, and guidance from advisors, I felt connected to the LECOM community even before officially matriculating. But once I began medical school, I chose the Primary Care Scholars pathway because it perfectly aligned with my goals of pursuing a career in family medicine.
The pathway allows students committed to primary care to graduate medical school in just three years at the Erie campus. As I continue my journey, I know that LECOM is preparing me well for a career in family medicine. The support, structure, and sense of community here have already made such a huge impact on my experience, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
That’s it for me.
