– Big thanks to Alex and hello to everyone. My name is Nikola Gigovski and I’m here in beautiful Chicago, Illinois to talk about UIC and its healthcare opportunities. I always knew I wanted to be in medicine, but at UIC with all of the clinical and volunteering opportunities, I was able to find my true calling in nursing. UIC offers a clinical experience unlike any other college. Being in the heart of a major metropolitan area, our program provides clinical opportunities all across the city to create some of the best learning environments for students. Even before nursing school started, I was able to volunteer at UIC’s very own hospital UI Health to gain early clinical exposure. From underserved communities to some of the most reputable hospitals in the Midwest, these experiences have given me the skills to become one of the most adaptable nurses around. Training for a career in healthcare may seem overwhelming, but the faculty here at the College of Nursing are super supportive and have helped me through the entire process. As a first generation student, I wasn’t sure what to expect with the whole college experience, but UIC has helped me every step of the way. My training here at UIC has more than prepared me for the workforce. The College of Nursing has its very own simulation lab to practice skills in, and our faculty and clinical preceptors keep current with the most up-to-date advanced techniques and nursing skills. That’s why UIC nursing is ranked as one of the best in the nation. My time here at UIC has been unforgettable and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Through all of the experiences and friends that I’ve made here, I truly couldn’t imagine going to any other school. I’m fired up for the next chapter. Take it away, Alex.
– Thank you Niko. As a leader preparing future practitioners in healthcare, UIC also has Colleges of Applied Health Sciences, dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, social work, and the School of Public Health. The university is also home to UI Health, which provides patient care, education and research to foster health communities in Illinois and beyond.
