– Thanks for that intro, Alex. What’s up, everybody? I’m excited to share a little bit about my journey. After serving in the Navy, I wanted to keep moving forward and continue growing and education felt like the right next step, and that’s what brought me to Tyler Junior College. My time in the Navy taught me to stay focused, adapt quickly, and work well under pressure. Skills that ended up being a huge advantage in school and in the workplace. When I got outta the service, I wanted a college that would give me real world training and a strong support system, and I found that at TJC. I chose the Electrical Electronic Controls Program, because I’ve always been hands-on and curious about how things work behind the scenes. Everything I learned in class applied directly to my internship at Tyler Pipe, a leading manufacturer in cast iron pipes and fittings. One week, I’d be learning about automation or programmable logic controllers in class, and the next I’d be troubleshooting that same equipment at work. My favorite hands-on task was replacing control panels and relocating terminals to make troubleshooting a bit easier. That internship eventually turned into a full-time job, and now I’m balancing both school and work and loving the challenge. TJC is more than just academics. It’s a launchpad. From helpful career services to supportive professors who genuinely care, this place sets you up to succeed. If you’re thinking about skipping college, don’t. You never know what doors it could open? It definitely changed my life. TJC took what I learned in the Navy and built a solid future with it. It gave me an industrial electrician career that I am proud of and the confidence to keep pushing forward. That’s my story. Thanks for hanging out with me. Throwing it back to you, Alex.
