Alright, let’s dive into the Roc Nation School of Music, sports and Entertainment. Another incredible program you can only find right here at LIU. An impressive 25% of students receive a full tuition scholarship. Let’s hear from Vincent, a junior majoring in sports communication and marketing who will share his experiences in the program. This partnership allows students to engage with some of the biggest talents in the entertainment and sports industries. Vincent, we can’t wait to hear this story. Take it away.
– Thank you for the intro, Alex. When I was switching for colleges, I knew I wanted a change of scenery from my suburban hometown. It was also very important for me to find a school with exceptional sports programs right in the center of the action. The Rock Nation School of Music, Sports and Entertainment here at Long Island University checked off all those boxes. I’ve jumped at every opportunity here at LIU, I started out as a sports staff writer for our university newspaper and had the chance to manage the Sharks Division one men’s basketball team led by former NBA Guard Rod Strickland. Recently I joined the athletics broadcasting operations crew as an intern and I even moderated a fireside chat with NFL Legends, Bart Scott, Carl Banks, and Perry Williams and LIU alum Alan Han, the ESPN Sports broadcaster during homecoming week, I’m always on the lookout for experiences that build my skills and enhance my portfolio. I volunteered at events like Paleo Weekend, the Ultimate Media Sports Gaming and Entertainment Festival in Manhattan and for the Atlantic 10 Tournament at the Barclay Center. Plus, I’ve attended workshops at CBS, Rock Nation headquarters and even our Dolby at Recording Studio. The connections LIU offers, especially through Rock Nation, create an incredible environment. The Rock Nation Speaker Series has brought in industry leaders like NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver, hip hop artist, bat Joe and Super Bowl champion Victor Cruz making for unforgettable learning experiences. LIU has opened so many doors for me. I’ve had amazing classroom experiences alongside access to organizations and talents. Only Rock Nation can provide, the connections with faculty and industry partners give me an unparalleled experience that only this university can offer. Back to you, Alex.
– Thank you, Vincent. The Roc Nation School is incredible. Getting to connect with such top tier entertainers and industry leaders is an amazing opportunity for learning. It’s opening doors for so many talented students like you, and we cannot wait to see you on ESPN one day soon. Thanks again, Vincent.
Let’s meet Ava, a junior education major. We’ll share more about LIU’s vibrant student life as a sister and leader in one of the nation’s most recognized sororities, she’s active in her community. With over 200 student organizations and thousands of events, there’s always something for her classmates to enjoy. Over to you, Ava.
– Thanks for the introduction, Alex. I’ve always dreamed about becoming a teacher inspired by my passion for learning and helping others. My values of kindness and leadership have shaped who I am today and motivate me to get involved in my campus community. At Long Island University, I found my place, a space where I can pursue my career goals while enjoying a vibrant student life with hundreds of student organizations, division one athletics and large national fraternities and sororities. There’s truly something for everyone. I got involved in student life by joining Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority and recently served as Panhellenic Sorority president. This role has provided me with a solid support system and helped me form lasting friendships, deepening my connection to LIU and my sisters. We’ve strengthened those bonds throughout the year, whether it’s at campus traditions, cheering on the sharks, attending club gatherings, or enjoying shows at the Tilles Center. There are so many events each year, but I especially love the annual holiday lighting celebration and homecoming and parent and family weekend when the spirit of Shark Nation really shines cheering on our football team and participating in a packed weekend truly brings us all together. A big part of that community experience is found at the Hillwood Commons Student Center. My favorite spot on campus. It’s where we gather to relax, socialize, and grab a bite to eat. LIU’s dining options are fantastic with a wide variety of choices. My friends and I often hang out at Finley’s Lounge for its great atmosphere and late night options. Student life here is truly dynamic with something going on all the time, whether it’s during the week or on the weekends. It is an experience you won’t get at any other university. That’s my story. Back to you, Alex. Hey, guys. Yeah.
– [Everyone] Hey, Ava.
– [Ava] Oh, hey Finley. How are you?
– Thanks, Ava. That was such a great time. You’re clearly making the most of every chance to build new friendships, create lasting memories, gain valuable experience, and step up as a leader on campus. That’s truly amazing. Well done Ava, and thanks again.
Let’s dive into LIU’s top 30 performing arts program, a 20 time Kennedy Center Award winner. Meet Ella, a freshman studying musical theater. She’s passionate about pursuing her dreams on Broadway and she’ll share how LIU’s in-depth training is setting her on a path to success. Ella, please take it away.
– Thanks for the intro, Alex. I’ve always dreamed about being an actor and finding the right college was a big part of that journey for me. I wanted a musical theater program that would really push me to grow, and I found that at Long Island University with its nationally regarded performing arts program. Moving all the way from California to New York was definitely a leap of faith, but I’ve fallen head over heels for LIU and the incredible theater community here. Every class brings something new. Whether I’m crafting solo performances and acting, diving into ancient and modern plays and drama or mastering ballet with industry pros. What I love about LIU is that it not only focuses on performance, but on creating well-rounded artists. It’s a place where I can collaborate with my peers, build a sense of ensemble, and create brave, supportive spaces that encourage us to fully explore our creativity. Being so close to New York City means I can catch the latest Broadway shows anytime, and at LIU Broadway comes to campus. This season, I’m super excited to see performances from Kristin Chenoweth, Patti LaBelle, Dear Evan Hansen, and come from away at LIU’s Tilles Center for the Performing Arts. When I’m not in class, there are so many opportunities to get involved. I love watching my friends shine on stage at the little theater where we put on shows through LIU’s post theater and concert dance companies. With the skills I’m building and the connections I’m making, I feel ready to tackle the acting industry head on. I can’t wait to take what I’ve learned and dive into every opportunity that comes my way. That’s all for me. Alex, the stage is yours.
– Thank you so much, Ella. It’s obvious that you and your peers are gearing up to make an impact on the grandest stages and we admire how you’re chasing your dreams. Well done, Ella.
Let’s get to know Jaiden, a senior studying computer science. He’s the perfect guide to explore LIU’s School of Engineering, artificial Intelligence and Computer science, which is leading the way into the future. This includes the nation’s first digital engineering program and designation as a center of excellence by Dassault Systems, one of only a handful globally. Plus, this partnership has equipped LIU’s campuses with some of the latest amazing technology. Jaiden, you’re up.
– Thanks, Alex. What’s going on everyone? I was really excited to find a strong computer science program right in the heart of New York City, at Long Island University I found exactly that and so much more. LIU isn’t just dedicated to computer science. It’s at the forefront of the industry with programs and artificial intelligence and the nation’s first and only accredited digital engineering program. As a computer science major, I landed an on-campus job at Browse, LIU student run technology and one of a handful of certified campus Apple stores in the country. I help fellow students troubleshoot tech issues and recommend devices that fit their needs. It’s a great way to connect with others while applying what I’ve learned in real world situations. Outside of class I love hanging out in the eSports arena, our state-of-the-art complex where my classmates and I can unwind and compete in gaming tournaments. The opportunities that LIU both in and out of the classroom really help set me apart and give me practical experience from industry experts. One standout experience has been our partnership with Dassault Systems, a leader in 3D simulation technology. LIU offers unique opportunities through this collaboration, including access to our 3D simulation lab and center of excellence. This space gives us access to cutting edge software that advances fields like pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare, providing a hands-on learning experience. Our faculty experience with current trends in artificial intelligence and industry experts from many of our partnerships ensure that we receive the best education possible. Thanks to my experiences at LIU, I landed an internship at a prestigious investment bank. Honestly, when I’d first arrived, I never imagined I’d have access to so many opportunities or make such valuable connections. I know these experiences will follow me throughout my career. That’s all for me. Sending it back to you, Alex.
– Thanks Jaiden for sharing your incredible journey. It’s clear that you found a perfect match at LIU, not only with the top tier computer science program, but with the unique opportunities that set you apart. It’s inspiring to hear how these experiences are already shaping your future. Keep up the amazing work, Jaiden, and thanks again.
Let’s hear more about the Sharks, LIU’s Division I athletics program and three time conference commission cup winner. Austin, a junior majoring in finance and a member of the men’s ice hockey team will introduce LIU’s Division I athletic program, the largest collegiate athletic program in the nation with 38 sports, including football, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse. Competing against some of the best schools in college hockey has been an amazing experience. Being part of Shark Nation means working with incredible coaches and trainers who push me to become the best version of myself. I’ve built lifelong friendships with my teammates who I proudly call family, and with 38 division one sports. Our Shark Nation community is massive. We all proudly wear the blue and gold. At Long Island University we take pride in winning in everything we do. As part of the hockey team, we embody the values of preparation, respect, professionalism, honor and competitive excellence, both on and off the ice. Hockey culture is huge on Long Island and being the closest division one hockey team to New York City means we play against NHL Caliber talent. We even share our home arena with the New York Islanders. Game days are electric, whether it’s on the ice or supporting my fellow sharks on the court or the field. I love seeing PAC stands, the fans showing their Shark Nation spirit and the marching band hyping everyone up, but being a student athlete at LIU is about so much more than just competing. We are all committed to our community, completing thousands of hours of community service and raising funds for important causes each year through LIU Cares. Being a student athlete at Long Island University has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The unity within my team, alongside support from coaches, professors, fellow students and fans, makes it such a privilege to wear the Sharks uniform. Time to hit the ice. Pass it to you Alex.
– Austin, thank you so much. The competitive excellence of the Sharks is unbelievable and we love hearing about the energy on game day. We are all wishing you an incredible season ahead, and thank you for sharing your experiences. Cheers, Austin.
Let’s catch up with Justina, a student majoring in pharmacy. She’s the perfect student to share insights about health professions at LIU, which features NYC’s first pharmacy school and one of four veterinary schools in the northeast. Along with programs in nursing, physical and occupational therapy, medical imaging, physician assistant studies, social work and speech language pathology, just to name a few. Justina’s healthcare experiences have motivated her to give back. Take it away, Justina.
– Thanks, Alex. Hi, everyone. Before coming to Long Island University, I gained valuable healthcare experience during my undergraduate studies. However, it was my time on the front lines during the pandemic that truly solidified my decision to become a pharmacist. When I discovered LIU’s College of Pharmacy, I knew Long Island University was the right choice. As one of the oldest pharmacy schools in New York, its prestige is matched by its cutting edge technology and strategic partnerships that places LIU at the forefront of the industry. I really appreciate LIU’s commitment to experiential learning. One of the highlights of my education has been the hands-on experience in a state-of-the-art compounding lab. I also intern at one of New York City’s top hospitals made possible through Long Island University’s strong clinical affiliations. In addition, as class president and a student leader, I help organize community outreach events like blood pressure clinics, and I’m working closely with faculty on a research project that will be presented at a national convention. This combination of knowledge and practical skills is helping me become a well-rounded healthcare professional. LIU offers a diverse community of health professional programs allowing us the opportunity to work collaboratively across professions and think of our patients holistically. Our strategic partnerships enhance our learning in remarkable ways, such as Omnicell and the Center for Innovative Medicine Management, which integrates robotics and keeps us at the forefront of pharmacy technology. Overall, long Island University provides everything we need to succeed, academic excellence, hands-on learning, and a supportive community. As someone who’s passionate about making an impact in healthcare, I’m so glad I chose LIU. That’s all for now. Back to you, Alex.

Okay, let’s check out Brandon’s story. Hailing from Washington, Illinois, this BU alum graduated with a mechanical engineering degree and a startup company before he left campus. Bradley prepares students for every aspect of post-collegiate living from personal development to professional excellence. At a 93% career placement rate, BU students emerge ready to change the world. Tell us more, Brandon.
– Hi Alex, I chose Bradley University because my father went here and everyone else that I knew here was happy with their quality of education and most importantly, the career that they had after graduating from this institution. At Bradley, I’ve been able to do everything from help pitch in to build a formula car to playing intramural basketball where we won three championships in a row and had some unforgettable rivalries. The mechanical engineering program at Bradley challenged me both inside the classroom and out. On campus, you have access to a variety of innovation hubs, including Peoria Next. Our required work experiences pushed me to an internship early on that helped me build confidence and acquire skills that ultimately led to me securing a job before the beginning of my senior year. I also teamed up with a few of my friends to form a startup called ShotHawk, an active shooter response system to prevent mass shootings. We started in a few pitch competitions on campus to sell our idea. After getting some traction in these pitch events, we were accepted into several other programs as well as launching a pilot program. Also, we’re in the final stages of applying for our full patent after getting the patent provisional as Bradley University students. To help us get this far, we had some incredible support. In the classroom, we learned engineering concepts, which we were able to deploy outside the classroom thanks to convergence events such as those hosted by the Turner School of Entrepreneurship. With all the experiences I’ve had at Bradley University, it helped me get a job offer before the beginning of my senior year and start my own startup company with my friends and now that I have graduated and have a job and career that I’m happy with, what else can I say other than back to you, Alex.
– Brandon, thank you for shedding some light on the entrepreneurial opportunities available to students across disciplines with professors and peers cheering you on and your access to the Big Idea Competition and the Social Impact Challenge, it’s easy to see why BU students are personally and professionally confident and successful. Thanks again, Brandon.
